Dr. Lawrence Kwan is a graduate of the School of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He started his career as a product marketing manager at Apple Computer, Inc. developing CD-ROM and multimedia products in the early 1990's. He then changed careers and studied medicine, graduating from the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis. After completing his primary care internal medicine residency and chief residency, he joined the clinical attending staff as an affiliated Clinical Stanford professor at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Here,he continued to practice medicine and teach student physicians. He also started and lead a federally funded program delivering integrated medical, mental health, and addiction services to homeless individuals in Santa Clara County. His program received the National Association of Public Hospital's 2007 Safety Net Award for Innovative programs reducing health disparities. He completed his career at Santa Clara Valley as Ambulatory Care medical director for an 8 clinic public health system developing new outpatient delivery models for health care reform. He now works for Global Healthcare in Shanghai as a primary care physician. He continues to be interested in teaching, medicine and innovative models for delivering quality health care and reducing health disparities. |
